Maternal-Fetal Medicine

It takes a village... - Nigerian proverb

Sometimes it sounds as if having a healthy baby is easier said than done. Approximately 10% of all pregnancies in the United States are considered high-risk. A pregnancy may be considered high-risk due to:

  • A mother's medical history
  • Difficulties in a prior pregnancy
  • Problem with a current pregnancy

Special care and testing are required during a high-risk pregnancy in order to give the best chance to have a healthy baby.

North Shore University Hospital's Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine is a comprehensive center for women requiring extra care.
