Huntington, New York - Centerport resident Randy Howard has been named Vice President, Operations at Huntington Hospital. In this role he will assume oversight of facilities management, as well as the Housekeeping Department, risk management, and emergency preparedness.

Prior to assuming his current post, Mr. Howard was Director of the Office of Military and Veterans Liaison Services and Administrative Director of the Rosen Family Wellness Center at North Shore-LIJ Health System, of which Huntington Hospital is a member.

A retired army officer, Mr. Howard has 20 years of experience in healthcare administration, working as a healthcare executive at military hospitals and facilities around the world. After leaving the army, he spent five years as a military health system contractor managing Tricare, the military’s healthcare program, in New England and upstate New York.

Mr. Howard credited his predecessor at Huntington, Thomas M. Hoeft, with “doing a spectacular job building a framework for capital projects.” Huntington Hospital is currently in the planning stages of several capital improvement projects, including construction of a new, 13-bed inpatient medical/surgical unit; renovating its heating, air conditioning and ventilations systems; and renovation of Interventional Radiology. Renovation and expansion of the hospital’s Emergency Department and a new inpatient building are among the hospital’s long-range plans.

Mr. Howard is a graduate of Boston College and holds a Master’s degree in health administration from Baylor University. In his free time he is a volunteer firefighter with the Centerport Fire Department and an avid runner. He and his wife, Susan, are the parents of two children, Nicole, who is a registered nurse, and Richard, a law student.
