North Shore-LIJ Health System now provides transplant services for patients with kidney diseases and living donors.
Organ transplantation has become the treatment of choice for end stage organ failure in kidney, liver, heart and lung diseases. Compared to other life sustaining therapies, organ transplantation has prolonged survival and most importantly, enhanced the quality of life of individuals with advanced irreversible organ failure.
During the last 50 years, the science of organ transplantation has evolved and become widely available, making transplant a viable treatment option.
Our goal is to ensure that the option of organ transplantation is available to the communities served by the health system in an efficient and convenient manner. In our efforts to achieve this, we have an experienced multidisciplinary team.
We are able to deliver the highest quality of care in the outpatient and in hospital setting to our communities.
