NSHS and LIJMC merge in November, creating the North Shore-LIJ Health System (NSLIJ). The merged entity comprises 14 hospitals, 4000 beds, almost 27,000 employees, and has combined revenues of $2.5 billion

1990 NSUH and the Community Hospital at Glen Cove merge, forming the North Shore Regional Health Services Corporation (NSRHSC). The combined organization has over 1,000 beds and over 6,000 employees

NSUH ends its affiliation with Cornell University and signs an affiliation agreement with New York University (NYU)

Huntington Hospital affiliates with NSHS

NSHS and SIUH sign a sponsorship agreement that pools resources and allows for joint negotiations

NSLIJ affiliates with the Peconic Health Corporation, comprising Southampton, Central Suffolk, and Eastern Long Island Hospitals
