Michael C. Kim, MD, Named Director of Interventional Cardiology at North Shore University Hospital

MANHASSET, NY— North Shore University Hospital today announced the appointment of Michael C. Kim, MD, FACC, as director of interventional cardiology.  In this position, Dr. Kim is responsible for the hospital’s catheterization lab, overseeing operations to maintain and enhance quality, effect innovations in procedures and programs, and grow volume.

Most recently, Dr. Kim served as director of the coronary care unit at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, and assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Cardiology within the Department of Medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

Dr. Kim’s expertise in interventional cardiology will help the hospital further its reputation for excellence,” said Stanley Katz, MD, senior vice president of cardiovascular services at the North Shore-LIJ Health System, and chair of cardiology at North Shore University Hospital and LIJ Medical Center.

Dr. Kim is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine in the subspecialties of cardiology and interventional cardiology.  He has lectured as well as co-authored articles and book chapters on a variety of cardiology and interventional cardiology subjects.  In addition, Dr. Kim has been a principal investigator or co-investigator on several cardiology research projects.

Dr. Kim received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, Washington, DC.  He completed his residency, a fellowship a general cardiology and a fellowship in interventional cardiology at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
