CA Technologies Child and Family Activity and Resource Center
Just walking into Cohen Children’s Medical Center can be a great adventure for children. Designed with children and their families in mind, our CA Technologies Child and Family Activity and Resource Center is adorned with vibrant color and whimsical design. A water feature is surrounded by a family resource center, surgical waiting area and play area. “The Cube” is the main attraction of the play area. It’s an interactive display that projects over 70 eye-catching special effects and games on the floor and can be controlled with simple hand, foot and body movements. The entire area is Wi-Fi enabled so that all visitors can have internet access.
Family Resource Center
The Kohl's Family Resource Center provides health information for families, patients and staff. Our goal is to enhance the medical understanding of patients and their families so that they may become more active participants in their care.
The center makes available a collection of books, pamphlets, videos and Internet access. Family members may search for information on their own or seek assistance from a librarian. In addition, the Kohl's Family Resource Center provides a fax machine and photocopier for patient and family use. Families are always welcome to use the center as a place to relax or read. Many families enjoy being able to use the Internet to check their e-mail and to keep other family members informed of their child's progress.
Family Surgical Waiting Area
Waiting for your child to return from surgery can be quite stressful. That’s why we’ve located the new family surgical waiting area away from the hustle and bustle of the main entrance. It’s a quiet, stress-free location. A soothing water feature enhances a space in which parents and families can watch TV, read, access the internet or just rest.
A receptionist is available to keep parents up to date on the status of their child’s surgery. Families are given a personal pager that allows the surgeon to contact them should they wish to leave the waiting area. Adjacent to the waiting area is a private consultation room where families and physicians can sit and talk.
