Outpatient Cardiology Consultation
What to expect at an outpatient cardiology consultation?
Most children are referred for cardiology consultation due to a heart murmur, palpitations, chest pain or fainting. Please anticipate spending close to two hours in our office at the initial visit to allow us to do a complete evaluation.
A typical visit includes a review of the history, a physical examination and an electrocardiogram. Depending on what the cardiologist learns from these exams, additional testing may be required, including an echocardiogram, an exercise stress test, a holter monitor, an event recorder, and/or a chest radiograph (x-ray). Additional testing can often be completed on the same day but sometimes requires a return visit, which will be scheduled at your convenience by our staff.
