Comprehensive Inpatient Services
Pediatric Heart Disease Treatment
Hospitalized children with known or suspected heart disease are afforded all the resources of an academic children's hospital. Expert care is provided in a state-of-the-art, child-centered facility. Patients may be cared for in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, the newly renovated Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, or on one of the inpatient units with specialized nursing and monitoring for cardiac patients. Telemetry monitoring that is reviewed daily by a pediatric cardiologist is available in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, as well as several of the inpatient units at Cohen Children’s Medical Center.
Ambulatory care is available for patients undergoing certain diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, such as a cardiac catheterization
or an electrophysiology study.
These patients may require several hours of monitoring, and can sometimes be discharged home the same day.
