Exercise Stress Test

A cardiologist may request an exercise stress test to obtain detailed information about your child's heart, heart function and heart rhythm during activity. In addition, an exercise test can give the physician information about a child's physical fitness and the heart's response to exercise. The patient usually exercises for approximately 10-15 minutes and may be monitored for 10-20 minutes before and after exercise.  Most of these tests are performed using a stationary bicycle at the exercise laboratory in the Children's Heart Center at Cohen Children’s Medical Center.
