Stanley Asnis, MD

As chairman of orthopedic surgery for NSUH and LIJ, Dr. Asnis oversees about 85 credentialed musculoskeletal specialists. Previously, he served as chairman of orthopedic surgery, NSUH; chief, orthopedic surgery, NSUH; chief, the Center for Joint Replacement, NSUH; associate chief, orthopedic surgery and rehabilitation, NSUH; chairman of the North Shore Physical Therapy Committee; and president of the NSUH Medical Staff Society.
Dr. Asnis has published various journal articles and a textbook, and has made many presentations and exhibits. He is the recipient of numerous honors, including the Hip Society's Frank E. Stinchfield Award for orthopedic research. Most recently, Dr. Asnis was included in Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare 2006-2007, Best Doctors in America 2005-2006 and New York Magazine's Best Doctors 2005. He has developed such orthopedic devices as Howmedica's Asnis Guided Screw System, Biomet's Rx90 Total Hip System, and the Monolock Component of the Vanguard Total Knee System.
Dr. Asnis is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and the National Board of Medical Examiners. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
Dr. Asnis earned his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, MO. He did both his orthopedic residency and fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery.
