Outpatient Rehabilitation at Southside

Southside Hospital has three comprehensive outpatient programs, the 15,000-square-foot Regional Center for Outpatient Rehabilitation, the Institute for Physical Therapy and the Balance and Vestibular Rehabilitation Clinic. In addition, there is a Foot Orthotics Center where foot, ankle and lower-leg problems are evaluated and corrective shoe inserts are designed and prepared.

The Regional Center offers a mixture of therapeutic services, including physical, occupational and speech therapy to patients recovering from illness and injury. It is located in its own facility on the Southside Hospital campus.

The Institute for Physical Therapy is a specialized outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation center that focuses on all musculoskeletal injuries and disorders, including back, neck, joints and muscles. The Institute emphasizes an individualized, one-to-one approach using manual physical therapy and therapeutic exercise. It is also committed to advanced professional training for physical therapists. The Institute has comprehensive programs on the hospital campus in Bay Shore and in Smithtown in north central Long Island.

Through these centers, Southside has a number of specialized programs:

  • Hand therapy
  • Foot and ankle orthotics program
  • Cognitive retraining
  • Sports rehabilitation
  • Spine rehabilitations services
  • Corporate and injury prevention programs
