The Department of Radiology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center is a consultative service that offers a full range of imaging modalities to meet the needs of our inpatient population and outpatient community. Our full-time faculty consists of a team of sub-specialty trained and board certified radiologists. The department performs studies on patients of all ages and all levels of acuity. The department operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Physician and technical staff are on site 24 hours a day and specially trained technical staff (special procedures, CT Scan technologists) are available at all times.

All technical personnel providing radiology services are licensed by the New York State Department of Health and have appropriate training, in-service education and ongoing competency assessment. All imaging nurses have advanced cardiac life support certification in both adult and pediatric patient populations.

The department offers state-of-the-art facilities, equipment and techniques. Our Radiology Information System incorporates Powerscribe, a voice recognition dictation system, the most advanced diagnostic reporting technology available to health care professionals today. This new technology supports our commitment to provide the highest standard of care for our patients by providing accurate results in a short period of time.

The department has a fully functional PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) system. PACS is an electronic information system for organizing, displaying, interpreting, storing and remotely accessing digital medical images. All digitally dictated reports are stored to a permanent history file.  Results are auto-faxed to referring physicians’ offices and also available to health system physicians over any computer.

We accept all major insurances.
