Behavioral Health Access Guide

The Behavioral Health Access Guide contains Nassau, Suffolk and Queens County behavioral health treatment program and services listings and contact information. The treatment programs and services listed provide help to persons with psychiatric disorders, including, as noted, those with substance abuse disorders.

Information contained in the Access Guide was obtained from various published sources, substantially added to and updated by North Shore-Long Island Jewish behavioral health personnel. A special word of thanks goes to the Nassau and Suffolk County Mental Health Associations, both of whom generously gave us their permission to use their excellent guides. Those guides are: From Hospital to Community: An Information and Resource Guide to Mental Health Services in Nassau County for Consumers and Their Families; and Directory of Mental Health, Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services in Suffolk County. Services for the Mentally Ill and Their Families, published by the Mental Illness Foundation, constituted a major source of information for Queens County programs and services listed in the Access Guide.

The Access Guide is organized by county: Nassau, Suffolk and Queens. Within each county, the Guide first lists key contacts, including government agencies and advocacy organizations, referral services, hotlines, emergency and crisis intervention programs. Listings for treatment programs and services follow, organized by type of program or service.
