The Department of Radiology at Glen Cove Hospital is a consultative service that offers a full range of imaging modalities to meet the needs of our inpatient population and outpatient community. Imaging services are performed at two locations; within the radiology suite of the main hospital and at North Shore Radiology at Glen Cove, P.C., our outpatient imaging center, which is located at 10 Medical Plaza.
The hospital performs studies on patients of all ages and all levels of acuity. The department operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Physician and technical staff are on-site 24 hours a day and specially trained technical staff (special procedures, CT scan, and ultrasound) are available at all times.
The Department of Radiology is compliant with the American College of Radiology Appropriateness Criteria. All X-ray, mammography, CT and MRI technologists hold state licenses and are certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Ultrasonographers are certified or eligible by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Nuclear medicine technologists hold state licenses and are certified or eligible by either the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
All technologists comply with the department’s standard operating procedures and are subject to ongoing competency evaluation and performance improvement. Radiologists are board-certified, state-licensed and meet the credentialing requirements for active members of the medical staff as set forth in the bylaws of the hospital.
The department offers state-of-the-art facilities, equipment and techniques with a friendly, caring staff. Our Radiology Information System incorporates a voice recognition dictation system, this technology supports our commitment to provide the highest standard of care for our patients by providing accurate results in a short period of time. The department has a fully integrated PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System). PACS is an electronic information system for organizing, displaying, interpreting, storing and remotely accessing digital medical images. Health system physicians can view images and reports from their offices.
