Rapid Response

Rapid Response Teams, based in each of our hospitals, act as a support system to our nurses and physicians when they have a concern about a patient’s condition.  These teams respond quickly to assess and provide treatment to patients who are not already in an intensive care setting.  Staff satisfaction,  in terms of assessment, effectiveness and teaching benefit, has been overwhelmingly positive, for nurses and residents.

An Essential Part of Patient Safety

You can see by our numbers below (over 1,000 calls in the first half of 2007) that these teams play an active role.  It’s just another way that we have to promote your safety while you’re in the hospital. The Institute for Healthcare Improvement highlighted the value of these teams and included RRT as one of its primary patient safety initiatives in its “Five Million Lives Campaign”.
