Southside Hospital is a 366-bed community hospital located in western Suffolk County, with full-service cancer care programs. Southside Hospital’s Cancer Program is approved by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer as a Community Hospital Cancer Program.

Southside Hospital's Radiation Oncology, Surgical Oncology and Medical Oncology programs provide patients with the utmost in comprehensive cancer care. The hospital's Frank Gulden Radiation Oncology Center offers such cancer treatments as High-Dose Radiation Therapy; MammoSite, an innovative brachytherapy technology; Conformal Therapy/Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), a powerful, high-energy beam that sends radiation to a tumor with minimal damage to the tissue surrounding it; and Prostate Seed Implantation.

The Surgical Oncology Program offers treatments including Colorectal surgery, Gynecologic surgery, Neurosurgery and Urologic surgery, often using minimally invasive techniques to ease and shorten recovery.

Southside Hospital is staffed by medical oncologists including oncology-certified nurses, who have specialized training in cancer care and patient education. Patients can draw on the services of interdisciplinary teams from radiology, radiation oncology, surgery, the pain management program, social work, nutrition and rehabilitation.

In addition to a wide variety of support programs and services, Southside Hospital hosts numerous multi-disciplinary cancer conferences throughout the year, presenting cases for a full analysis of diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitation techniques.
