Our experts in the Surgical Oncology Program at North Shore-LIJ’s Cancer Institute are trained in the surgical management of rare and complex tumors as well as the more common malignancies. As the foremost program in surgical oncology in the area, state-of-the-art diagnostic techniques, such as sentinel node biopsy, are routinely performed. Included among the malignancies treated are:

The surgical oncologists at North Shore-LIJ’s Cancer Institute utilize the most advanced surgical techniques in the treatment cancer. These treatments include:
- The use of microvascular techniques to restore form and function after breast, head and neck cancer surgery
- Cryosurgery and Radiofrequency Ablation for liver and kidney tumors
- Minimally invasive surgery including laparoscopic and robotically assisted techniques for colon and esophageal resections.
