Program Cuts Transfer Time for Stroke Patients

Dr. Jeffrey Katz, Director, Stroke and Vascular Neurology, North Shore University Hospital and physician at the Cushing Neuroscience Institute, is interviewed on the importance of reducing the time it takes to transfer patients suffering from an ischemic stroke to a comprehensive stroke center.
An improvement program successfully shortened the amount of time it takes to transfer a patient with an ischemic stroke to a comprehensive stroke center, researchers found.
Within 18 months, the program reduced the time emergency medical services (EMS) personnel spent at the referring hospital by 40%, bringing down the total transport time, according to Jeffrey Katz, MD, of North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, N.Y....
