Over the course of one year, the Emergency Medicine Department at Glen Cove Hospital, Long Island, NY, sees approximately 22,000 patients. As a full-service care center, we have the resources to care for the most complicated patients, as well as all routine emergency and urgent care patients. We ensure that our patients receive state-of-the-art care for virtually any illness or injury. Our facilities are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Our department is staffed with residency-trained, board-certified Attending Physicians in Emergency Medicine. Our registered nurses are certified in emergency and trauma care.

Our Emergency Medicine Department offers a variety of state-of-the-art services to provide the optimal patient experience: 

 

  • Stroke Center Certified by New York State – The Emergency Medicine Department at Glen Cove Hospital has the most advanced training, personnel and equipment to provide state-of-the-art care to patients suffering from ischemic strokes (the most common type) and hemorrhagic strokes. Receiving expert treatment for strokes can mean the difference between life and death.

 

Glen Cove Hospital is one of 11 hospitals in North Shore-LIJ Health System to receive the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Quality Achievement Awards. The awards recognize the hospitals' commitment and successes in implementing a higher standard of stroke care to ensure that stroke patients receive treatment in accordance with the latest evidence-based guidelines.

 

  • Level III Trauma Center – This designation means that Glen Cove Hospital's Emergency Medicine Department has the resources available for most trauma patients, including resuscitation, surgery and intensive care. For patients requiring more advanced cardiac, neurosurgical or pediatric care, we have the ability to stabilize and transfer them to our tertiary facilities at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset or Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park.
