Offered Services Critical Care

Emergency Critical Care is a rapidly growing subspecialty within emergency medicine. This unique specialty allows physicians in emergency care centers to master the treatment of critically ill and injured patients. By providing intensive, specialized treatment options, emergency critical care patients receive higher quality initial care, greater longevity and better outcomes.

The Emergency Department at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, Long Island, NY, has comprehensive emergency critical care services, including four state-of-the-art resuscitation rooms and emergency critical care physicians who are board-certified and fellowship-trained. The medical staff cares for more than 85,000 emergency patients per year.

North Shore University Hospital is one of North Shore-LIJ's three tertiary care centers. The Emergency Critical Care Center is a designated New York State Regional Level I Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center and is equipped to treat all levels of emergency cases 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.

Pioneers in Emergency Critical Care Fellowship Training
North Shore University Hospital is among the earliest developers of the concepts of emergency critical care. We created one of the first fellowships in the country devoted to the emergency critical care subspecialty. Our emergency critical care fellowship trains fellows in critical care medicine as it applies to the ICU and the Emergency Department. Additionally, our physicians and nurses deliver emergency critical care treatment for many affiliate emergency departments in North Shore-LIJ Health System.

Our goal is to be the pre-eminent provider of quality emergency healthcare in the Northeast, a sponsor of medical and educational excellence, a leader in medical research and a focal point for the community's healthcare needs.
