FDNY EMS Fellowship opportunities are offered at North Shore-LIJ Health System's Department of Emergency Medicine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center (LIJMC) in New Hyde Park, Long Island, New York. Considered one of the world's premier fellowships in EMS and Disaster Medicine, our fellowships have been ongoing since 1993 and are affiliated with the Fire Department of New York.
Long Island Jewish Medical Center's Department of Emergency Medicine provides a comprehensive, one-year, FDNY EMS Fellowship.
The FDNY EMS Fellowship, or Fire Department of New York Emergency Medical Services Fellowship, gives fellows the opportunity to learn from some of the world's leading emergency medical services experts in a well-rounded, robust learning environment at one of the top teaching hospitals and tertiary care centers in the Northeast -- Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, NY.
FDNY EMS Fellows enjoy broad exposure to all aspects of Emergency Medical Services in order to be well prepared for their future career and the successful completion of the FDNY EMS Fellowship board exam. We also encourage the fellows to pursue their specific interests within the field and to avail themselves of training, teaching and research opportunities at the regional, national and international levels.

Applying for FDNY EMS Fellowship
The North Shore-LIJ FDNY EMS Fellowship program currently accepts one fellow per year. The fellow is paid according to his/her PGY level. Clinical responsibilities in the Emergency Department do not exceed 12 hours/week.
The successful applicant will have satisfactorily completed residency training at an ACGME accredited program and have interest in Emergency Medical Services. Applications for an FDNY EMS Fellowship are accepted for applicants who have successfully trained in Emergency Medicine. The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) has approved Emergency Medical Services as an official subspecialty of the above primary specialties.
