Codman Award The North Shore-LIJ Health System was the first health system to receive the Joint Commission's Codman Award, which recognizes excellence in performance measurement to improve quality of care and organizational performance.


A record total of 102 North Shore-LIJ physicians were listed in the 16th edition of New York Magazine’s annual “New York’s Best Doctors” issue.  (2013)


North Shore-LIJ has been ranked as one of the nation’s Top 10 Hospital Systems for Diversity and Inclusion practices as well as one of the Top 10 Companies for Veterans by DiversityInc.  (2013)


The North Shore-LIJ Health System is recognized on Becker’s Hospital Review’s inaugural “100 Integrated Health Systems to Know” list for its strong commitment to continued education at the Center for Learning and Innovation,  clinical simulations at the Patient Safety Institute, and the collaboration between the system and its physicians.   (2013)


North Shore University Hospital was awarded the “Partner for Change, with Distinction” Award by Practice Greenhealth in recognition of achieved improvements in mercury elimination, waste reduction, recycling and source reduction programs above and beyond basic award criteria as well as leadership in the local community and healthcare sector.   (2013)


The North Shore-LIJ Medical Group earns the Silver Award for the Partners in Performance Excellence regional Baldrige-based program. (2012). Thoroughly examined through the same rigorous process and guidelines of the national Baldrige Criteria, North Shore-LIJ Medical Group was recognized for outstanding management and operational practices that make them role models for other organizations.


The North Shore-LIJ Health System is ranked 31st in the nation in Modern Healthcare magazine’s list of the Top 100 Integrated Health Networks, as compiled by IMSHealth. 


North Shore-LIJ received the Healthcare Association of New York State's Pinnacle Award for Quality and Patient Safety for its success in dramatically reducing hospital-associated infections. The program recognizes and encourages broad dissemination of successful quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.

Dr. Peter Gregersen, MD of the Feinstein Institute received the prestigious Crafoord Prize of Royal Sweedish Academy of Sciences for his genetic research in the area of rheumatoid arthritis (2013)
