Community Collaboratives
Community Collaboratives
Critical to the success of fulfilling the mission of the Office of Community and Public Health (OCPH) is community engagement and partnership. As we establish strategies to improve the health of our communities, success will depend upon our efforts in building trusted partnerships with the communities we serve. Creating healthy communities is a long-term process that requires ongoing and in-depth community participation and engagement. Involving the community and collaborating with its members in problem-solving solutions to health issues that affect them empowers them to take a more active role in their health and well-being.
The OCPH has begun exploring community collaboratives with local, community-based organizations, including:
- Abilities, Inc.
- Adelphi University
- Babies R Us
- Girl Scouts of Nassau and Suffolk
- Grameen Health Innovations and Grameen America
- Harbor Child Care
- Health and Welfare Council of Long Island
- Island Harvest
- Long Island GLBT Services Network
- Nassau/Suffolk Council
- Nassau/Suffolk Department of Health
- New Yorkers for Children
- Nurse Family Partnership
- Spinney Hill
- Suffolk County Department of Health
- United Way of Long Island (Long Island Funders Way)
