Neck Pain Symptoms and Causes
Neck pain is pain that occurs in the area of the seven cervical vertebrae in the neck area. Because of its location and range of motion, the neck is often left unprotected and subject to injury. Pain in the back or neck area can be acute, which comes on suddenly and intensely, or chronic, which can last for weeks, months, or even years. Neck pain can be continuous or intermittent. Causes of neck pain come from various disorders and diseases of any tissues in the neck, such as degenerative disc disease, neck strain, neck injuries such as whiplash, herniated disc or pinched nerve. In addition, neck pain causes include viral infections and fibromyalgia. Neck pain symptoms include dull aching, numbness, tingling, tenderness, sharp shooting pain, fullness, difficulty swallowing, dizziness and lymph node swelling.
