Vestibular and Balance Disorders, Symptoms and Causes
A vestibular/balance disorder is a condition that causes the sensation of being unsteady or dizzy even while standing still or lying down. Causes of balance disorders can include certain health conditions, medications or a problem in the inner ear or the brain (vestibular). Symptoms of balance disorders and vestibular disorders can include dizziness or vertigo (a spinning sensation), falling or feeling as if you are going to fall, blurred vision, confusion or disorientation, lightheadedness, faintness or a floating sensation. Other related symptoms of balance disorders include nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, changes in heart rate and blood pressure, fear, anxiety or panic.
