Southside Hospital is a 341-bed tertiary hospital and a Level II trauma center that offers centers of excellence in cardiology, orthopaedics, neuroscience and women’s health services. Southside also offers North Shore-LIJ's award-winning cardiac surgery program with a state-of-the-art hybrid operating room, which combines a full range of interventional, imaging and surgical services all in one place.
The Cushing Neuroscience Institute at Southside includes all aspects of neurological disease treatment, including a comprehensive pain management program, sleep center, an epilepsy center that is certified by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers and a state-designated, Gold Plus Award stroke center.
Southside’s North Shore-LIJ Orthopaedic Institute specializes in multidisciplinary orthopaedic care for the entire spectrum of musculoskeletal disorders, including a Total Joint Program. The hospital is also well-known for its extensive physical medicine and rehabilitation programs. It is the only Long Island hospital that has received accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for four rehabilitation programs, including inpatient, stroke, brain injury and outpatient rehabilitation. Among these programs is the highly respected Regional Center for Brain Injury Rehabilitation, the only New York state-certified, hospital-based adult brain injury unit on Long Island.
Southside also offers quality women’s care, including minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. The hospital recently became one of the first in the world to be designated as a Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology (COEMIG).
