Far Rockaway Treatment Program Offers Services to Spanish-Speaking Clients Seeking Relief for Substance Abuse

December 9, 2013

FAR ROCKWAY, NY – The Far Rockaway Treatment Center, part of the North Shore-LIJ Health System’s Zucker Hillside Hospital, recently hired a full-time, Spanish-speaking social worker to help meet the treatment needs of the local Hispanic community, the center announced today.

“Our agency has not been able to provide treatment for Spanish-speaking clients for the past five years, “ said Alberto Barreto, ACSW, CASAC, the facility’s program director. “We are very pleased to report that we now have a Spanish-speaking social worker on board. What this means is that once again we are able to provide the treatment needed to our Hispanic neighbors in the Far Rockaway community.”

The Far Rockaway Treatment Center provides comprehensive outpatient services to community residents with alcohol and drug dependence problems. Specialized services are available to adults and young people over 12 years of age; mandated clients including DWI referrals; those with co-existing mental health issues; Spanish-speaking patients; and the Orthodox Jewish community.

The Far Rockaway Treatment Center, at 1600 Central Ave. in Far Rockaway, accepts most insurance plans, including Medicaid, Medicare and Medicare supplements. No one will be denied services due to an inability to pay.
