BAY SHORE, NY – The North Shore-LIJ Health System today announced the appointment of Winifred Mack, RN, the executive director of Southside Hospital since 2006, as the health system’s eastern regional executive director, giving her oversight of Franklin, Huntington, Plainview, Southside and Syosset hospitals. As part of the reorganization, Donna Moravick, RN, NP, has been promoted as Southside’s new executive director, while Patricia Farrell, RN, NEC, has been named the hospital’s associate executive director of patient care services and chief nursing officer.
In her new role, Ms. Mack is coordinating the health system’s activities throughout its eastern region, including building physician partnerships and identifying new opportunities for clinical investment and growth. She succeeds Deborah Tascone, RN, who stepped down for health reasons last March.
With more than 35 years of healthcare experience, Ms. Mack came to Southside Hospital in 2005, serving first as vice president of patient care services and deputy executive director before becoming head of the hospital in August 2006. Previously, she served as chief nurse executive and associate executive director of patient care services at Franklin and Syosset hospitals. Before joining North Shore-LIJ, she held a number of high-level administrative and nursing positions at Continuum Health Partners’ Beth Israel-St. Luke’s Roosevelt Health System in Manhattan, Winthrop University Hospital, Nassau University Medical Center and Stony Brook University Hospital. She has a bachelor of science degree and a master’s degree in public administration from Long Island University at CW Post.
As the new executive director of Southside, Ms. Moravick is responsible for daily operations at the hospital and works with its management team to enhance clinical and patient services. Previously, she was the vice president of cardiovascular services for North Shore-LIJ, responsible for managing cardiovascular and thoracic surgery across the health system. She was instrumental in extending North Shore-LIJ’s cardiac surgery program to Southside in February 2011. She joined North Shore University Hospital in 1981 as a staff nurse in the surgical intensive care unit. She began working in cardiac services in 1993 as a nurse clinician for cardiac surgery. She has a master’s degree in nursing from Stony Brook University and a master’s degree in business administration from Hofstra University.
Southside’s new associate executive director of patient care services, Ms. Farrell also has a background in cardiovascular services. She served previously as senior administrative director of patient care services and clinical practice coordinator for non-invasive cardiology services at Long Island Jewish (LIJ) Medical Center in New Hyde Park, NY. She has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY, and a master’s degree in nursing administration and informatics from Molloy College.
