Expanding Care in Queens: New Multi-Specialty Center Brings Medical Relief for Queens

December 11, 2013

The 25,000 square foot center in Rego Park brings 17 medical specialties to the 2.3 million residents of Queens.

REGO PARK, NY – During a time when health care choices are dwindling, there’s much-needed support for the 2.3 million residents of Queens with the opening of North Shore-LIJ’s Multi-Specialty Center at Queens Tower in Rego Park. Formerly a standalone urgent care center, the three-floor, 25,000 square-foot center at 95-25 Queens Boulevard now houses support for 17 clinical specialties.

“After a thorough assessment of our community’s needs, we have selected a specialized group of physicians to meet the needs of  local residents,” said Rita Mercieca, RN, executive director of Forest Hills Hospital, located less than two miles away from the new facility. “This central location was selected because of its close proximity to tens of thousands of neighboring residents who could benefit from our services, creating a convenient hub for medical care in a very densely populated area.”

The facility, developed at a cost of $8.5 million, puts a particular emphasis on not just the treatment of disease but on screening and prevention for specific conditions that are very common, such as diabetes, heart disease and women’s health issues. The center is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic and imaging equipment, and all services are integrated with nearby Forest Hills Hospital and the entire North Shore-LIJ Health System.

In addition to general, internal medicine and preventative care, there are a number of specialty services provided by nationally recognized physicians, including:

  • Cardiology

  • Podiatry / Wound Care

  • General and Bariatric Surgery

  • Surgical Oncology

  • Endocrinology

  • Urology

  • Plastic Surgery

  • OB/GYN and Prenatal Care

  • Gastroenterology

  • Human Reproduction

  • Thoracic Surgery

  • Maternal-Fetal Medicine

  • Orthopedics

  • Gynecological Sonography

  • Vascular Surgery

  •

  • Physical Therapy
  • Nephrology

As with all North Shore-LIJ practices, the physicians at Rego Park are supported by a team of nurses, healthcare professionals and support staff who have met the rigorous educational, experiential and customer service standards of the health system.
