Medical Student Clerkship
A Clinical Clerkship in Cytopathology is available for fourth-year medical students to explore disciplines to consider for solidifying their professional career plans. The student shadows the Cytopathology Fellow and/or a Pathology Resident on the Cytopathology Rotation and may observe all lab activities and procedures. The student is expected to attend various conferences, fulfill reading assignments, observe the performance of fine needle aspirations and participate in slide reviews. A formal written evaluation will be furnished at the student's medical school.
An elective rotation in Cytopathology is available for applicants currently enrolled in a Pathology Residency Program. The objective of this elective is to offer the Pathology resident a broad educational experience in Cytopathology in a structured program, working along with the Cytopathology Fellow and faculty. The resident is expected to participate in all housestaff activities, including attending conferences, fulfilling reading assignments, observing the performance of fine needle aspirations, performing slide reviews, reviewing the slide study sets and taking a pre-rotation and post-rotation exam. All outcomes will be reported in a formal written evaluation to the resident's home Program Director.
