Gastroenterology Fellowship at NSLIJHS
The Division of Gastroenterology was founded at the inception of the hospital and was staffed initially by voluntary gastroenterologists. In 1978 a full-time gastroenterologist was hired and since that time the Division has expanded to five full-time faculty members and 55 voluntary faculty members. The voluntary faculty are heavily involved in attending in-clinic and in supporting the teaching program. One member of the retired voluntary faculty has assumed an honorary teaching position of full-time faculty. The Division is fully committed to patient care, teaching and research. Because of the merger with North Shore University Medical Center, combined grand rounds between the Divisions at North Shore and LIJ are held in alternate hospitals monthly. The fellowship program is a fully credited program with six positions. The program also accepts residents and students for elective rotations.
