Medical Student Electives

Thank you for your interest in the Elective Clerkship programs at the North Shore-LIJ Health System. The health system has an extensive academic program with over 115 ACGME approved residency programs and many fourth-year elective opportunities.

The North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System is committed to providing a superior educational experience for medical students. We serve as a major clinical site for required clerkships in pediatrics, medicine, surgery, psychiatry, obstetrics-gynecology and neurology for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, SUNY Downstate and the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and offer many sub-specialty electives. We recently opened our own medical school in partnership with Hofstra University. The Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine welcomed our inaugural class in July of 2011.

Our clerkship training sites are located in various communities, which provide a diverse patient population and broad spectrum of training. Our residents and attending physicians share our commitment to outstanding clinical practice and teaching.
