Anesthesiology Procedures
Anesthesiology is the field of medicine responsible for the pain management and anesthetic care of patients before, during and after both in-patient and out-patient surgery. Anesthesiologists specialize in carefully matching the anesthetic needs of each patient to the patient’s medical condition, including responses to anesthesia and requirements of the surgery being performed.
Along with medical management and anesthetic care throughout a surgery, anesthesiology treatment also includes post-operative pain management including prescribing pain-relieving medication and techniques to minimize pain and maintain a level of comfort. Anesthesiologists provide both general and sub-specialty anesthesia care.
