Rajiv Sharma, MD
Dr. Rajiv Sharma joined the Department of Radiation Medicine in September 2010, coming from the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Dr. Sharma is a native of New Jersey and received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine. He trained in Radiation Oncology at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he served as Chief Resident. He completed a Fellowship at M.D. Anderson Center in general Radiation Oncology and Proton Beam Therapy.
He joins the Department with strong research experience and an impressive list of peer reviewed publications and scientific presentations. He has served as an invited mentor to residents in training considering a Radiation Oncology fellowship at the annual meeting of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO). He also participated in the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) International Development and Education Award (IDEA) mentorship program and developed a training website in Radiation Oncology while at Montefiore Medical Center.
Dr. Sharma’s areas of focus at North Shore-LIJ will be on gastrointestinal, lung, and pediatric malignancies in addition to general Radiation Oncology.
