Why Patients Choose North Shore-LIJ
for General Internal Medicine
The Division of General Internal Medicine is responsible for much of the inpatient care within North Shore-LIJ Health System, as well as primary care and general/preventative medicine.
Patients choose North Shore-LIJ's internal medicine services for:
- Convenient Access to Care
Getting the right treatment shouldn't be complicated. Our offices strive to make care accessible, accepting most major insurance plans. Long Island Jewish General Internal Medicine in Lake Success offers free parking and evening appointments.
- Respected Faculty with a Deep Understanding of Hospital Care
The hospitalist program at North Shore-LIJ is one of the oldest and most respected in the United States. Besides providing excellent care to patients, it offers top-line training to the medical residents and students who will become the next generation of physicians, with many faculty serving as professors in the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
- Ambulatory Care and Clinic Options
Long Island Jewish Medical Center has an ambulatory care clinic run by the medical resident staff that specializes in outpatient treatment and procedures. The clinic has access to a full spectrum of specialists and diagnostic facilities and is fully staffed by on-site nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers and dieticians, in addition to physicians. The clinic also accepts Medicaid and Medicare. A Medical Short Stay Unit with 15 beds serves patients who require short-term hospitalization.
