The North Shore-LIJ Laboratories opened its doors in early 1998, occupying a new facility and employing state-of-the-art robotics. Located in Lake Success, North Shore-LIJ Laboratories is a fully automated, 60,000-square foot institution that offers both routine and esoteric testing services. Our customers include: physician practices, network and non-network hospitals, nursing homes, and clinical trials. The scope of specialty testing includes: flow cytometry, special coagulation, molecular diagnostics, complex microbiology, virology, endocrinology, toxicology, cytogenetics, molecular genetics, cytology, and anatomic pathology.

North Shore-LIJ Laboratories’ network has standardized hospital laboratory equipment and information systems making reference ranges and methods seamless. This results in a continuum of care that may not be available in other laboratory networks.
Our quality management team consists of a team of highly-trained members to assure North Shore-LIJ Laboratories operates to the highest standards of quality. This team has developed monitors to track and maintain quality throughout the system. Service Excellence
Our Laboratory Services and support are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for your convenience. Technical and clinical experts are on hand to answer any questions you may have. In addition, our Sales and Marketing team will ensure our laboratory services are “made for you.”
Friendly and experienced couriers assure your specimens arrive at the laboratory on time to assure the highest test quality. Gajema, a “FedEx®” style electronic tracking system, is used by our Courier Department to ensure the proper tracking and delivery of your specimens.
In addition to our excellent support services, North Shore-LIJ Laboratories also offers: home care phlebotomy, patient service centers, and STAT testing. Our STAT testing turnaround time is less than 4 hours from the time of call which is unprecedented in this region.
In-office, computerized test ordering and insurance based specimen routing have become industry standard. Our laboratory uses an in-office web based order entry system which links the physician’s office directly to the laboratory. This system virtually eliminates errors in specimen routing and improves office efficiencies. Unlike any other laboratory systems, this system gives the clinician the ability to view inpatient as well as outpatient results.
