Private Duty Nurse Services (Hospital-Based)

Would you like the reassurance that a caring professional is at your loved one’s bedside when you can’t be? You’re not alone. Our hospitals are committed to providing you and your family with the very best care, but hospital staff can’t stay at the bedside around the clock. However, it can be comforting to know that a health professional is dedicated solely to your loved one’s care and personal needs, especially if you or another family member live far away or have other obligations.

Experienced private duty registered nurses and private duty certified nurse assistants, all employed by North Shore-LIJ, are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Depending on the level of care you require, our private duty registered nurses and private duty certified nurse assistants can serve a valuable role explaining tests and instructions, suggesting questions to ask, relaying status updates to family members in person or over the phone, or simply locating an extra pillow for comfort. In addition, they can help your loved one with:
  • Personal hygiene
  • Feeding
  • Getting in and out of bed
  • Walking
  • Companionship
