Anterior Cervical Discectomy
Anterior Cervical Discectomy Treatment
An anterior cervical discectomy is the most common cervical treatment for damaged cervical discs. For some people with chronic neck pain or other disorders that affect the cervical spine, an anterior cervical discectomy may be needed. The cervical discectomy procedure is an operation under general anesthesia in which a small incision is made in the front of the neck to gain access to the front of the spine. The ruptured disc is then removed to relieve the pressure on the nerve and spinal cord.
