Burn Surgery Treatment
Plastic and reconstructive surgery for burn injuries improves a survivor’s physical appearance and function, increasing their quality of life.
Surgery will not remove all burn scars. But it can improve physical function and minimize the appearance of scars. If scar tightening limits the normal range of motion for the shoulder, neck, elbow, hands or legs, reconstructive surgery can be useful in improving movement. Scars that are raised, thick or discolored may be improved by operative and non-operative techniques.
