Diabetic Foot Care Treatment
Diabetic foot care is necessary to prevent serious foot problems including ulcers, infection, and in some cases, even the need for amputation. Neuropathy and blood vessel disease, common in diabetic patients, increase the risk of foot ulcers. The nerves of the feet are the longest in the body and often are affected by neuropathy. When a diabetes patient loses sensation in the feet, sores or injuries may go unnoticed until ulcers develop. To prevent foot problems from developing, daily care of the feet is recommended.
