Partial Dentures Treatment
Partial dentures (metal or metal-free) act as dental bridges as they “bridge” the gap between a missing tooth or teeth. This type of dental appliance can be constructed of acrylic and a combination of metals or can be metal-free. Other types of dentures include:
- Complete Denture—replaces all of the teeth and their adjacent tissues
- Conventional Denture—allows a recovery time (usually four to eight weeks) after all of the teeth are extracted before the dentures are placed in the mouth
- Immediate Denture—does not allow a healing period after all of the teeth are removed. The denture is immediately fit into the mouth after all teeth are removed
Oral health care is important for patients with dentures and should include daily cleaning and soaking along with regular visits with an oral health professional.
