The vulva is the soft fold of skin outside of the vagina. There are a number of problems that can occur with the vulva, ranging from common infections to more malignant cancer.
Many vulvar disorders have similar symptoms, including redness, itching, burning or lesions. It is important to have a skilled medical practitioner diagnose any vulvar disorder and recommend the appropriate treatment.

A routine Pap smear, blood tests, urinalysis or a test for sexually transmitted diseases can be used to diagnose a vulvar disorder. Treatment is based on the patient’s age, medical history and overall health.
