Our commitment to transparency

North Shore-LIJ uses a series of well-established performance measures to demonstrate the quality of care we deliver to our patients and the communities we serve. As an organization we believe in transparency and in openly sharing our performance data. Below is a variety of independent reports from the New York State Department of Health, Medicare, Joint Commission, and more.

Cardiac outcomes data

North Shore-LIJ hospitals provide some of New York State’s best outcomes for percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) and cardiac surgery, according to reports by the New York State Department of Health.

North Shore University Hospital had a significantly lower mortality rate than the statewide average, earning a double-star ranking for PCI (all cases).

Lenox Hill Hospital received a double-star ranking for non-emergent PCI cases. Long Island Jewish Medical Center had the lowest risk adjusted mortality rate (RAMR) in New York State for adult patients undergoing surgeries to repair or replace heart valves and for those in need of Valve/Coronary Artery Bypass Graft surgery.

Long Island Jewish Medical Center's RAMR was significantly lower than the statewide average earning a double-star ranking. Only one other hospital in New York State received this prestigious ranking.

The North Shore-LIJ Centers for Rehabilitation are among the best in the nation. Their healthcare services have earned high patient satisfaction scores and quality outcomes. Physician compare

North Shore-LIJ Medical Group is the seventh largest group practice in the country with more than 2,000 physicians. In 2012 the Medical Group received the Baldrige Partners in Performance Excellence Silver Award for outstanding management and operational practices. The link below provides information from Medicare’s “Physician Compare.” It includes quality measures related to the treatment of patients with diabetes and heart failure.
