What defines our Comprehensive Wound Healing Center is the level of expertise our staff has to recognize reasons why a wound is not healing and to develop a plan to treat it accordingly. The center specializes in wounds caused by diabetes (neuropathy), vascular disease (arterial, venous, lymphatic, vasculitis), radiation, trauma, burns and pressure. In addition, the center also offers “Enterostomal Therapy” services to patients who have undergone ostomy surgery (colostomy, ileostomy, urostomy). Ostomy services provided include evaluating for the correct size and type of appliance that best suits the individual, assessing and treating peristomal skin (area surrounding the stoma) injury related to mechanical (i.e. skin stripping, pressure) and chemical (contact dermatitis) causes, and recommending supportive care for peristomal hernias and stomal prolapses.
Our goal is not only to heal chronic wounds but also to preserve limbs, prevent wound recurrence, and improve quality of life for individuals with ostomies. Our experienced nursing staff focuses on prevention, coordination of care between specialties, monitoring the progress of wounds as well as education on nutrition and management of diabetes.
