Division of Critical Care Medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital
Critical care medicine treats people with life-threatening injuries and illnesses such as complications from surgery, accidents, infections, and severe breathing problems. Hospital medicine involves close attention by a team of specially-trained health care providers. Critical care usually takes place in an intensive care unit (ICU) or trauma center.
Critically ill adults are monitored by state-of-the-art equipment and treated by specially trained physicians and nurses in Lenox Hill Hospital's medical/surgical intensive care unit (ICU). The critical care team participates actively in multiple quality initiatives on the national, state and local level.
The multidisciplinary critical care team has a daily educational program to train future health care professionals. Students include Lenox Hill Hospital residents.
