From The Bronx or Westchester
Take the Major Deegan Expressway (NYS Thruway, I-87) southbound to Robert F. Kennedy Bridge (formerly the Tri-borough Bridge) to Manhattan. Take FDR Drive southbound to 96th Street exit. Continue onto York Avenue and travel southbound to 77th Street. Make a right turn onto 77th Street and continue to Lexington Avenue.
From Brooklyn or Staten Island
Cross the Brooklyn Bridge or go through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel. Take FDR Drive northbound to 61st Street exit. Continue westbound on 61st Street to Third Avenue. Make a right turn onto Third Avenue. Take Third Avenue to 77th Street. Make a left turn onto 77th Street and continue to Lexington Avenue.
From Queens or Long Island
Cross the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge (formerly the Tri-borough Bridge). Take FDR Drive southbound to 96th Street. Continue on York Avenue to 77th Street. Make a right turn onto 77th Street and continue to Lexington Avenue.
Take the Queens Midtown Tunnel westbound to Third Avenue. Make a right turn onto Third Avenue. Take Third Avenue northbound to 77th Street. Make a left turn onto 77th Street and continue to Lexington Avenue.
From New Jersey
Cross the George Washington Bridge to Harlem River Drive/FDR Drive. Take FDR Drive southbound to 96th Street exit. Continue on York Avenue southbound to 77th Street. Make a right turn onto 77th Street and continue to Lexington Avenue.
Take the New England Thruway (I-95) southbound to Cross Westchester Expressway (I-287). Take left hand exit for NYS Thruway (I-87) southbound, and continue on Thruway to the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge (formerly the Tri-borough Bridge) to Manhattan. Take FDR Drive southbound to 96th Street exit. Continue on York Avenue southbound to 77th Street. Make a right turn onto 77th Street and continue to Lexington Avenue.
Using public transportation
Take the M101, M102, M103 or 98 bus on Lexington Avenue (downtown) or Third Avenue (uptown). You can also use the M79 crosstown bus to Lexington Avenue.
Take the #6 train to 77th Street Station.
Flying to New York
Lenox Hill Hospital is easily accessible from LaGuardia, Kennedy and Newark Airports. Taxi service and airport shuttle buses are available at most airline terminals.
Visitors are welcome during a patient's stay at Lenox Hill Hospital. Patients may choose who can and cannot visit without regard to legal relationship, race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or disability. Limits on visitation are sometimes needed depending on a patient's medical condition. Other reasons for limiting visiting may include, but are not limited to:
- If the patient request restrictions or limitations.
- If there are safety concerns such as risk of infection.
- If visiting interferes with the care of other patients. This includes the need for rest or privacy.
- An existing court order that restricts contact.
- Visitors who are disruptive, threatening, or violent.
- Patients in a substance abuse/mental health treatment program that has limited visiting.
- Children of any age are welcomed to visit, however, children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Visitor presence and support is important. Lenox Hill Hospital thanks visitors for their partnership in caring.
Psychiatry inpatient unit visitation guidelines:
- Daily: 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
- Wednesday and Friday: 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
- Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
- Two visitors at a time may visit with each patient
The information desk, located in the main lobby, is staffed Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Family and friends can call the desk during those hours to find out a patient's general condition and room and telephone number. To reach the information desk, call (212) 434-2424 from outside the hospital or from inside, call ext. 42424.
All flower deliveries should be directed to the Security Office, where they will be picked up and delivered by a hospital volunteer. Only balloons made out of Mylar are permitted in patient rooms. Flowers and Mylar balloons are not permitted in the intensive care unit, cardiac care units, cardiovascular surgery recovery unit and designated rooms in the progressive coronary care unit.
