North Shore-LIJ Ocular Surface Center is the only center of its kind in the Long Island area specializing in the treatment of complex ocular surface disorders. As we advance toward becoming a Regional Center for Excellence, our multi-specialty approach expertly brings together various fields of medicine and offers many innovative procedures, including corneal and conjunctival stem cell transplantation.
Our collaborative efforts with other world-class institutions, including the Boston Foundation for Sight, enables North Shore-LIJ Ocular Surface Center to utilize cutting-edge technology and to be involved with the latest research and studies.
As one of only a few institutions in the country focused on treating ocular surface disorders, the North Shore-LIJ Ocular Surface Center is also the only provider on Long Island offering the Prosthetic Replacement of the Ocular Surface Ecosystem (PROSE) treatment. PROSE uses innovative custom designed and fabricated prosthetic devices to reestablish a healthy and stable ocular surface environment for those with ocular surface disease.

North Shore-LIJ Ocular Surface Center provides a multidisciplinary approach to treatment which includes cornea specialists, transplant immunologists and nursing care coordinators. This collaboration also entails working closely with other departments involved with patient care such as Rheumatology, Oncology, Allergy and Infectious Disease.
Because our staff is able to draw upon these specialty skill sets, as well as reach out to the other care providers, we are able to offer our patients treatments that address the complex nature of ocular conditions and provide the best possible outcomes.
