Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology

The team at the Division of Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology consists of board-certified anesthesiologists who have expertise in caring for patients undergoing cardiovascular and thoracic procedures and surgery. They employ state-of- the-art physiologic monitoring and have certification in perioperative transesophageal echocardiography. They work with cardiac and thoracic surgeons to provide dedicated care for patients.

The anesthesiologists are also involved in many cardiology and cardiothoracic procedures such as the percutaneous implantation of artificial heart valves and new electrophysiology (EP) procedures. EP procedures include percutaneous treatments for patients with atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias, as well as the insertion of specialized pacemakers and defibrillators. Each patient’s anesthetic plan is tailored to match his or her medical condition and procedure in order to enhance safety and maximize comfort.
