Internal Medicine Electives at NSUH

North Shore University Hospital trains medical students from all over the tristate area. Medical students rotate from four to 10 weeks on our medical service as third-year clerks as well as fourth-year sub interns. We have approximately 10 to 20 students rotate with us each month. Students are assigned to any one of the eight medicine floor teams and round with their teams on a daily basis. Students take calls every fourth night. Sub interns are expected to perform close to the level of an intern. All medical student notes and orders must be co-signed by the house staff. Students generally attend many of the same conferences that are offered to the house staff.

North Shore University Hospital is proud to be the teaching hospital for the newly created Hofstra University Medical School. The first entering class is expected to enter in 2011.
